DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin us for our “Samhain Self Guided Trail”\, to discover the traditions and customs of Oíche Shamhna / Halloween.  \nGather eerie clues along the way to receive a spookalicious treat. \nThe Celtic people celebrated the festival called Samhain (“SAH-win”) on the 31st of October. During this festival\, the Celts believed that the veil between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest\, and this could allow spirits to cross into our world. \nFamilies will be provided with a trail map and activity sheet on arrival. \nThis will guide you through the ancient Serpentine Woodlands at Strokestown Park to gather clues and enjoy fun traditional Samhain activities. \nWhen you have collected all the clues bring them to our Visitor Centre reception to collect a spookalicious treat . \nSuitable for children aged 2yrs +. \n                     Ticket’s €10.00 per child\, Adults & Infants Complimentary.                    (Irish Heritage Trust Member Discount Available\, membership card must be shown on arrival.) \nWe invite you to wear your most shape shifting costumes! \n \nDates & Times \nFriday October 23rd – Sunday November 1st \n10.30am to 4pm \n

SUMMARY:After Dark House Tour
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin Strokestown Park General Manager\, John O’Driscoll\, on Sunday 1st November\, for our “After Dark House Tour”\, to hear the untold stories of Strokestown Park House and it’s inhabitants. \nThe date of this event is particularly poignant as it falls on the eve of the 179th anniversary of the assassination of Major Denis Mahon\, landlord of the Strokestown estate at the height of the Great Irish Famine. \nHear the stories surrounding his assassination and visit his final resting place in the Strokestown Park Mausoleum\, which was constructed within an earlier 17th century church and contains a crypt in which members of the Mahon Family were buried. \nThis event is not for the faint hearted and will involve a tour through Strokestown Park House by candlelight. \nWill you be brave enough to visit parts of Strokestown Park that even the staff would not dare enter after dark? \n___________________________ \nEvent Information \nStart Time: 7pm \nVenue: Strokestown House \nTickets: €25.00 per person plus booking fee. \nMembers Ticket: €22.00 per person plus booking fee. \n___________________________ \nLimited Spaces Available \nSuitable for persons 16yrs + \nThis event is NOT wheelchair accessible \nPart of this event is outdoors\, dress appropriately. \nPlease arrive 10 minutes before your tour \nParking available at the front of Strokestown House
