Just out of secondary school at the age of 17 he very quickly took over the Irish music scene\, signing to Sony Ireland for his debut album ‘Dreamed A Dream’ which went straight to No.1 in the Irish charts. An accomplished Sean-nós dancer with several titles\, she has served as a judge on TG4’s Ríl Deal. Her musical roles include piping with the Misneach Orchestra and drumming for the Beartla Ó Flatharta Céilí Band. \nRóisín Ní Fhlatharta is a decorated accordionist\, singer\, and dancer from Maynooth’s Cillmhicreaddóg Gaeltacht. Inspired by her late father\, Beartla\, she performs with her twin sister\, Úna\, in the Beartla Ó Flatharta Céilí Band. A multiple All-Ireland champion\, Róisín has toured globally and appeared on RTÉ and TG4. \nCiara Fitzharris is a fiddle player\, harper\, singer\, and dancer from Kilmacreddock\, Co. Kildare. She performs as the youngest member of the Misneach Orchestra. In 2024\, her group\, Allta\, won the Siansa Gael Linn final at the National Concert Hall. \nElaine Clarke grew up immersed in music. Influenced by her parents and uncles\, she transitioned from classical training to the traditional flute under the mentorship of Catherine McEvoy. SUMMARY:Strokestown 1926 Census – Exploring The 1st Free State Census
DESCRIPTION:  \nMartin Curley\, a genealogist and local heritage consultant will present a workshop on accessing and using the 1926 Census to in Strokestown Park on \nSaturday May 16th at 2 PM. \nMartin will help people look at the 1926 Census locally and share how to access it online and make use of the information for family and for local history purposes. \nThe Census provides a detailed look at Irish life in the emerging 26 county Free State including records on occupation\, education\, religion\, and the Irish language. \nFor many people it will be an opportunity to see how their parents and grandparents lives changed during these turbulent years with a comparison with the previous 1911 Census. \nMartin is a native of Guilka\, Menlough in east Galway and works with schools\, community groups\, families and individuals on family and local history. He is on the Heritage Council Heritage in Schools panel and co-admins the East Galway Genealogy & DNA group. \nEntry to this workshop is complimentary\, however advanced booking is essential.
