After Dark House Tour

Join Strokestown Park General Manager, John O’Driscoll, on Sunday 1st November, for our “After Dark House Tour”, to hear the untold stories of Strokestown Park House and it’s inhabitants.

The date of this event is particularly poignant as it falls on the eve of the 179th anniversary of the assassination of Major Denis Mahon, landlord of the Strokestown estate at the height of the Great Irish Famine.

Hear the stories surrounding his assassination and visit his final resting place in the Strokestown Park Mausoleum, which was constructed within an earlier 17th century church and contains a crypt in which members of the Mahon Family were buried.

This event is not for the faint hearted and will involve a tour through Strokestown Park House by candlelight.

Will you be brave enough to visit parts of Strokestown Park that even the staff would not dare enter after dark?
