May 16

1926 Census Form

Martin Curley, a genealogist and local heritage consultant will present a workshop on accessing and using the 1926 Census

to inform family and local history information.

in Strokestown Park on Saturday May 16th at 2 PM.

He will help people look at the 1926 Census locally and share how to access it online and make use of the information for family and local history purposes.

The Census provides a detailed look at Irish life in the emerging 26 county Free State including records on occupation, education, religion, and the Irish language.

For many people it will be an opportunity to see how their parents and grandparents lives changed during these turbulent years with a compassion with the previous 1911 Census

Martin is a native of Guilka, Menlough in east Galway and works with schools, community groups, families and individuals on family and local history. He is on the Heritage Council Heritage in Schools panel and co-admins the East Galway Genealogy & DNA group.

Entry to this workshop is complimentary, however advanced booking is essential.
