Thomas Mahon and the Trees of Strokestown Park
26 March 2023 @ 15:00 - 16:00
As part of National Tree Week join us to learn about Thomas Mahon and the Trees of Strokestown Park.
In the summer of 1776, the famous agricultural reformer Arthur Young visited the Strokestown estate and wrote admiringly of the work that had been done to improve it by its then proprietor Thomas Mahon. On this relaxed walking tour of the Strokestown Demesne, we take a look at some of the trees that have survived from Thomas’ time as well as some of the more recent additions and learn about how land usage on the estate has changed over the centuries.
