Weaving Culture & Heritage

To mark Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Culture Ireland presents Cultúr 2026, an expansive culture programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Strokestown Park with the support of Roscommon County Council is proud to present as part of Cultúr 2026, ‘Weaving Culture & Heritage’, on Saturday September 5^th, an immersive celebration of the reciprocal historical and cultural influences between Ireland and France particularly Brittany.

The evening will be in two parts;

Weaving Together an exploration of the Huguenots in Ireland and the continuing shared artistry by acclaimed Tapestry artists, Frances Crowe (Roscommon) and Marie – Thumette Brichard (Brittany).

This will be followed by a performance by Les Irlandais de Bretagne, Breton musicians exploring the deep historical ties between Britanny and Ireland. This cultural connection, celebrated through music in English, French, Breton, and Irish, highlights a shared Celtic heritage and forgotten history of migration and mutual influence.

Doors open at 6.30pm, Start time 7pm.
