The National Famine Museum at Strokestown Park is proud to announce its prestigious achievement of being named History Museum of the Year by the Luxury Travel Guide international awards. This recognition reflects the museum’s dedication to preserving and showcasing the historical significance of the famine period.
Throughout the year, The National Famine Museum has received numerous accolades, highlighting both the museum itself and the redevelopment project. Recently, it was honored by the Luxury Travel Guide as the History Museum of the Year, following a nomination by readers of the esteemed travel and tourism guide.


Tandem Design win the Institute of Designers in Ireland award
In addition to this remarkable achievement, our interpretation partners, Tandem Design, have been recognized for their outstanding work. They were awarded the prize for “Exhibition, Pop-Up and Set Design” at the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) awards. Furthermore, Tandem Design has been shortlisted for the Engaging People Awards by the Association for Heritage Interpretation (AHI).
