Strokestown Park & The National Famine Museum is proud to take part in Seachtain na Gaeilge with a variety of events taking place on March 8th.
The Irish Famine brought immense loss and decline to the Irish language and Irish culture. Today it is flourishing again with the Irish language and culture experiencing a vibrant revival
This Sunday, 8th March, visitors are invited to discover the National Famine Museum as Gaeilge with free admission from 11am to 4pm. Guests will be provided with an Irish-language audio guide, and all interpretation throughout the museum is available bilingually in both Irish and English.
A guided tour of the historic Strokestown Park House as Gaeilge will also take place on March 8th at 1pm. Book your space HERE.
Following the tour, relax in the dog friendly Woodland Café for Comhrá, Caifé agus Ceol from 2pm to 4pm for an afternoon of traditional Irish music and dance. Performing on the day will be acclaimed All – Ireland winning musicians and dancers; Úna Ní Fhlatharta, Róisín Ní Fhlatharta, Ciara Fitzharris & Elaine Clarke. Relaxed conversation ‘as gaeilge’ is also encouraged but there is no pressure on anyone to use their ‘cupla focail’. Everyone is welcome.
